SHARK-protected Zarco on the podium at Jerez

Frenchman Johann Zarco finished the second race of the 125cc World Championship at Jerez this weekend on the third step of the podium. The thrilling race got underway in damp, patchy conditions with all riders starting on wet tyres. It became much tougher with the rain becoming stronger midway through the race leading to many accidents.

Gino Rea third at Donington Park

In front of a home crowd SHARK-protected Gino Rea took a podium finish against the odds securing third place in the European round of the World Supersport Championship at Donington Park yesterday. Rea had been in sixth place, until other riders either broke down or ran off track, allowing the young-Brit to take third and hold that position for the last seven laps.

SHARK-man Stefan Bradl leads the way in Moto2 in Qatar

This weekend the MotoGP championship returned for the 2011 season from the Losail circuit, Qatar. Leading the way in Moto2 was 21-year-old German, Stefan Bradl. The SHARK-protected rider impressed in qualifying and gave a preview of what was to come with a pole position time 1.736s faster than last year's. Leaving his rivals behind off the start-line, Bradl's pace continued to grow lap-after-lap eventually giving him a lead of over 14 seconds - the young German backed off the pace slightly and won the race by a impressive 7.710 seconds ahead of the pack.

Private equity firm Perceva Capital acquired a controlling interest in SHARK on March 9th 2011, reinforcing the company’s equity base and providing it with the resources needed to step up its expansion.

Lowes on podium in debut season opener

During a thrilling weekend of racing, SHARK-protected Sam Lowes came within 0.033 seconds of winning his debut World Supersport race finishing on the podium in third place. After 21 frantic laps of the Phillip Island circuit, Lowes led out of the final corner and was in a handlebar-to-handlebar battle to the line with Luca Scassa and Broc Parkes - just loosing out to Scassa and Parkes in the final seconds. Lowes was never lower than fourth position and has firmly made his mark on the championship for the forthcoming season. Fellow SHARK-protected Gino Rea fell heavily during the opening practice session leaving him with torn tendons in his thumb. Rea will have surgery this week to correct the damage but with an estimated 40 day recover period he may miss the second round of the championship.
